Destin’s roots date back more than 150 years when Leonard Destin from Connecticut stumbled upon the area. He found the harbor hospitable and the fish plentiful and ended up settling in Destin with his family who still lives there today. Because of Destin’s location on the East Pass, the Choctawhatchee Bay’s main connection to the Gulf, Destin is an ideal area for boating, fishing, watersports, and beach combing for both visitors and locals alike.
